Principal-in-Charge, Operations, DGT Survey Group

Robert Staples is a founder of DGT Survey Group, where he oversees survey and business operations. Bob also evaluates and implements new technologies to assure that DGT Survey clients benefit from best practice survey methods and data.

Bob brings more than 20 years of private, public, and military survey operations experience and an extensive knowledge of survey data collection, processing, CAD and GIS systems to DGT Survey Group. His survey and supervisory experience includes property line, topographic, utility, deformation monitoring, bathymetric, and photogrammetric control surveys; QA/QC and construction surveys using total stations, GPS technologies, laser scanning, inertial survey systems and astronomic and gyroscopic observations. Bob has also supervised 3D control surveys and performed projects using terrestrial laser scanning (LIDAR).

Bob has supervised field survey crews and back office staff a variety of large-scale infrastructure and institutional projects, including the Central Artery/Ted Williams Tunnel, Logan Airport (“Logan 2000”), Harvard, MIT, and Boston University, and the Massachusetts Highway Department.

Bob’s professional affiliations include the Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers (MALSCE), the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping (ACSM), the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), and the Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS).

Robert Staples is a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Massachusetts. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Anna Maria College.
